Teens and Alcohol

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

It is the standard at each weekend party: a case of lager, a keg, many hard spirits bottles and mixed drinks. Alcohol is everywhere nowadays, and youths (as well as adults) cannot keep their hands off it.

Teenagers are getting drunk nearly every weekend in the faculty year, and even more in the summer. But why do kids insist on drinking? Is it peer pressure? Is it the excitement of doing something illegal? Do they believe it’ll make them cooler in the eyes of others? Most likely, it’s one (or more) of these reasons. About each one of them need to be accepted, and are ready to do nearly anything to gain acknowledgment. Even the smartest student in class could give in to peer pressure, drinking, doing drugs, and having loose sex.

Most Fogeys would not prefer to think of their kid being the one to give in. “My kid is smarter than that,” they are saying. While it is reasonably possible your kid is extraordinarily smart, it needs a terribly powerful willed teenager to just say “no.” the reality is that most teens will surrender to peer pressure at a previous time or another, whether it be with alcohol or something else. Parents need to be on the watch when it comes to their youths. Ensure you know where they are going and confirm that folks are going to be there.

This could likely assure that drinking won’t occur, but its still likelihood. Confirm your teenager knows the consequences and hazards of alcohol over-consumption, eg liver damage and alcohol poisoning. Kids sometimes have a different angle about it if their oldsters explain to them the results of alcohol. Oldsters work miles better than health class at college, and can be more private.
